IUCMA Invites Stakeholders to Participate in 2027/28 Water Use Tariff Consultations

The Inkomati-Usuthu Catchment Management Agency (IUCMA) has officially announced the commencement of its annual tariff consultation process for the 2027/28 financial year and is inviting all water users, stakeholders, and interested parties to participate.

As mandated by Section 57(1) and (2) of the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998), and guided by the Pricing Strategy for Raw Water Use Charges published under Government Notice No. 4992 of 25 March 2025, IUCMA is required to undertake a comprehensive public participation process before determining water use charges within the catchment.

Why These Consultations Matter

The annual tariff consultation process provides an important platform for water users and stakeholders to engage directly with IUCMA on the proposed water use charges for the upcoming financial year. Public participation ensures transparency, accountability, and inclusive decision-making in the management and pricing of water resources within the catchment.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend and contribute to discussions that will help shape the future of water resource management in the region.
