The IUCMA is conducting the process of water use verification in the Usuthu Catchment of the Inkomati-Usuthu Water Management Area.

The IUCMA is conducting the Verification of Existing Lawful Water Use in the Inkomati part of the Inkomati-Usuthu Water Management Area.

The project is intended to manage groundwater levels and prevent damage by salt water intrusion, drought or flooding with the Inkomati-Usuthu area.

The purpose of the project is to develop modelling approaches and procedures that can be used to determine the long term water availability.

About

The purpose is to ensure that the nation’s water resources are protected, used, developed, conserved, managed and controlled as defined in section 80 of the National Water Act (NWA) since its establishment.
